The Fresno Chaffee Zoo receives approximately ten million dollars a year from Measure Z. In 2004, it was impressed upon the voters that funds from Measure Z were critical to improve & repair the existing exhibits. Today, 4 years later, the animals still wait while the plans to grow the zoo by up to 20 acres, and even more than that for parking, are studied and studied. The decision to bring aquatic animals to the zoo while doing little to nothing to improve the habitats for the mammals is irresponsible. I would like to remind those at the zoo that we already have an aquarium project underway in the Central Valley. The aquarium project is being funded by private money, donations and grants, not a local sales tax. If the aquarium had received Measure Z funds for the past 2 years, it would have been enough to build the entire facility and have it open to the public today because its plans were already approved. The conditions at our zoo are shameful & I would rather see the zoo closed than run so poorly. Perhaps it’s time to repeal Measure Z since our tax dollars are being spent so deceitfully.

We saw this on Saturday, it is very cute & full of laughs:)

Fun at Boomers

This was our 2nd time at Boomers.
It's a fun place if you don't have anything else
to do and you don't care what you spend, we had a gift certificate
thanks to Santa. Mia liked the little cars, she thought it was so cool
to actually drive using a gas & break....
a little different than Autopia.
She did really well parking too...that was until the
little boy behind her bumped her and
messed up her perfect parking job...
she was not happy and gave him a mean look.
Oh No....an aggressive driver at age 8!

Save Roeding Park!

OK...if you have time please visit
There is a great deal of information on what the zoo
is planning and why we should be
upset that they are spending
millions of dollars to do exactly what they
promised they would not do....EXPAND!
They are supposed to use that money to
improve & repair the zoo, not increase it's size.

the zoo

At first this tiger would not look in my direction...
so I called him...here kitty kitty I said..
then this guy (big fat jerk) next to me says in his stupid know-it-all voice
"they are way smarter than that...he won't look at you,
they know what you are trying to do."

I greatly dislike people who are rude...just as this guy
started to walk away the tiger looked over in my
direction and kept looking so that I could take several shots....what a good kitty.
Mia was surprised to see one of the
stingrays jump out of the water.
Glad we saw them before they all died..

DID YOU KNOW??
The Fresno County Zoo Authority is the public agency responsible for the administration of Measure Z, the unique transactions and use tax (sales tax) which is collected throughout Fresno County for the support of the Chaffee Zoo in the City of Fresno. The sales tax, at the rate of 0.1%, is collected by retailers and sent to the State Board of Equalization (BOE). The BOE then deducts its administrative fee and forwards the remaining revenue
(about $10 million per year)
to the Zoo Authority.
The Zoo Authority may spend up to 2% of the revenue for its own administrative expenses. Of the remaining 98%, at least 2/3 must be spent on capital improvement projects at the Zoo, and up to 1/3 may be spent
on operations and maintenance at the Zoo.

Well, there are many more pictures but that's

enough for now...don't ya think!

We had a great time as you can see, what made it

a really really great trip is that they have finally

finished the carpool lanes that go from Santa Clarita

to Pasadena and WOW, that made the trip so

much faster...door to door...3 1/2 hours..not bad!

Just a side note...

This was Mia's 103rd trip to Disneyland,
we first took her when she was 8 months old
and have been back on average every 3 to 5 weeks since.

We watched California Adventure being built

from the ground up and we were there on
September 9th & 10th of 2001
and we went back 2 weeks later..
