The Civil War Revisited

at Kearney Park

Even though it was quite warm....we still had a great time.

First we strolled through the camps, seeing how people lived

during the war and watching them make brooms and other

items that were necessities in the 1800's.

Then the girls got to make their own candles, they were pro's...

they also made punch-tin art.

That's where you make lots of small holes with a nail & hammer

in tin to create an image. We greatly enjoyed listening

to Mr. Lincoln and watching the battle, it was very realistic.

Gunfire, cannons, 9 year old boys fighting, being face to face

with your enemy and men dying all around gave us a good idea of

how brutal war is.....even civil wars.

Finally, it was time for Camp Night and thankfully the

temperature was dropping...we even got a few rain drops.

We sat around on hay bales enjoying our catered

dinner and listening to 1800's style entertainment.

And lastly, a huge fireworks display finished off the night.

The tickets said

"Civil War Era Attire"

but I had no bonnets and prairie dresses so

we ended up with a post civil war/cowgirl look
